HAVENWOOD FALLS — Sun & Moon Tribune is pleased to have the chance to meet with Tarron Wilde, one of our local high schoolers. Tarron’s “fiction” alter-ego was featured in Written in the Stars, one of the recent releases in the Havenwood Falls High series about the town’s youth.
Tell us about yourself
Hi, I’m Tarron Wilde. I’m a Junior at Havenwood Falls High, and the captain of the archery team. If I had to choose a favorite class, it would be history. It’s cool. When I’m not over-caffeinating, hanging with my friends, or shooting bullseyes, I’m helping my parents with their online business. I like to spend time with my dad, working on my Stingray, and my mom has taught me to cook up some delicious dishes. I pride myself on my sense of humor, and enjoy wearing snarky t-shirts that make people laugh.
What is something unexpected that most people don’t know about you?
I love snow boarding. There’s something about fresh powder and the mountain air. I can completely lose track of time, missing meals because the adrenaline fills me. If school wasn’t in session during the winter, I’d be out on the slopes every day. Some people joke that I belong at the North Pole!
What do you love about living in Havenwood Falls? What frustrates you most?
Havenwood Falls is great for the same reason it can be frustrating. The close friends I’ve made are the best, but it’s a small town. When there’s a disagreement or people don’t get along, it can impact everyone.
Where would you live if you could live anywhere in the world?
I like it in Havenwood Falls, but if I had to move I’d choose somewhere similar. Some place forested and mountainous, as well as a smaller community.
Where’s your favorite place to hang out in Havenwood Falls and why?
I’m typically eating at the Burger Bar or hanging at Coffee Haven. The drive-in provides food and a cool place to meet friends after school. I could live on their strawberry milkshakes and listen to the jukebox play all night. Coffee Haven is a quiet place for me to caffeinate in the morning and finish my homework.
What’s your favorite holiday/festival/special thing to do?
I’m not sure how to pick. When I was a kid, I loved kayaking with my dad at Paddlefest. Now, I think Movie in the Park is my favorite. I didn’t know how great some of those old black and white films are.
Wilde is a fine young man among Havenwood Falls’ promising future. You may learn more about him – or at least his fictional version – during this Thursday’s meeting of the Havenwood Falls Book Club, when they’ll be discussing Written in the Stars by Kallie Ross. Ross will be conducting a LIVE Video Q&A session beginning at 9 a.m. MT (11 a.m. ET) on Oct. 26.
