BOSTON — As the author invasion on Havenwood Falls continues, we at the Sun & Moon Tribune work tirelessly to bring you, our residents and subscribers, the news. The latest release of these books that are supposed to be fiction, based on an agreement between the authors and the Court of the Sun and the Moon, is Covetousness by Randi Cooley Wilson, which became public on Sept. 22.
We are particularly interested in this piece of “fiction,” because it features two relative newcomers to town, Everett Weston and Graysin Ravenal, whom we’d all like to get to know better. However, it also reveals what could be true secrets regarding some of our founding families. Our staff continues to investigate to learn the truth behind the events of Covetousness. In the meantime, today we sit down with the author herself.
What inspired this particular storyline?
I had really wanted to write a female lead who was in the dark about something but didn’t feel unrealistic as the story and secrets she was discovering unfolded. This storyline was inspired specifically by my faux boyfriend, and how I would most likely react to him if I were to ever meet him in real life. And no, I won’t be dropping names – lol.
What made you choose these particular creatures?
This supernatural group is a group I have written about before. They aren’t well-known unless you’ve read my other series and books. I thought it would be really cool to bring them into Havenwood Falls and add another level of supernatural creatures into the mix.
What’s your favorite line?
There is a line when my two main characters first meet and Everett asks Graysin if she has a spare (meaning tire) and because she is so overwhelmed by him, she replies, “A spare car? No. This is the only one I own. . .”
What did you enjoy most about writing this story?
Honestly, the collaboration with other authors. I love the idea that my favorite characters from other books can pop up in my storyline as an extension of the town.
Have you ever lived in a place like Havenwood Falls?
Yes, I currently reside in a small town in Massachusetts. We have a town square and privately owned shops. It’s very quaint. We also have tons of festivals.
What made you decide to write a Havenwood Falls story?
I love the idea of being part of a shared world. That each author would write extension stories with a few common threads and characters. Plus, Kristie Cook is amazing to work with, so it was impossible to say no.
If you lived in Havenwood Falls, what kind of creature would you be and why?
Gypsy demon. They’re just badass.
What has been the most surprising aspect of writing in this Shared World?
Honestly, the level of support and love from each author who writes within the worlds. How collaborative this has become. There are no egos or drama. It’s just been one fun, big project with tons of amazing friends. It’s like summer camp for writers.
Would you do a project like this again?
Absolutely!
According to insider Kristie Cook, Ms. Wilson is contracted to write two more stories based in our lovely town. Inamorata (A Havenwood Falls High Novella) is a young adult novella that releases Feb. 9, 2018, and a yet-to-be-titled New Adult full-length novel releases Aug. 24, 2018. Ms. Wilson will be holding a Live Q&A session with the Havenwood Falls Book Club Friday, Oct. 6, 7-8 p.m. ET. She will discuss her writing and books and will be happy to answer questions.
About Covetousness
Graysin Ravenal hasn’t seen her sister in years, but when she learns Jenni has mysteriously died in a library fire, she leaves her upscale beach community for the mountains of Colorado in search of answers. She needs a job, and Havenwood Falls happens to need an interior designer for the new library. The last thing she needs, though, is to fall for the dark and sexy Everett Weston, aka her new boss.
Their undeniable mutual attraction aside, keeping their relationship professional proves impossible as their lives collide in more ways than one.
Graysin finds herself immersed in a world heavily guarded by secrets and lies—a world Everett seems to know quite well, making him her only hope in finding the answers she seeks. As they work together to unlock the mystery surrounding Jenni’s death, their ever-increasing passion must be denied, no matter what their hearts say. Because the story they’re thrown into is one of desire and danger that not only uncovers a centuries-old secret that could destroy the town, but also reveals the darkness of Graysin’s family’s past—a darkness that changes her life forever. And some secrets just can’t be forgiven.
