HAVENWOOD FALLS — Today’s resident spotlight is on Kaela Peters, the new night manager at Whisper Falls Inn, and our most recent newcomer to town. At least, that’s how the story goes…

Forget You Not character Michaela Petran aka Kaela Peters

She calls herself Kaela Peters, and she’s the new night manager at Whisper Falls Inn.

Tell us about yourself.

Well, I’m Kaela Peters, and I recently came to Havenwood Falls as the new night manager at Whisper Falls Inn. This hadn’t exactly been my calling—when I was young, I loved science, and I’d planned to be a doctor. But life never goes as planned, does it? Something . . . terrible . . . happened to me, which changed my life forever. So here I am, no longer waiting tables and tending bar, but putting my customer service experience to use. While being a hotel manager hadn’t been in my sights before, I think I’ll come to love it.

I worked a lot back east in Atlanta, so there wasn’t a lot of time for fun. When I do have time off, though, I enjoy hunting and movie nights at home. For some reason, I think I love to ski—but I don’t remember ever skiing before. Isn’t that strange?

What is something unexpected that most people don’t know about you?

I’ve always wanted a pet pig, but I really want it to be purple. I know. It doesn’t make sense. I mean, they don’t even exist. Well . . . do they? Nothing seems impossible anymore.

What do you love about living in/visiting Havenwood Falls? What frustrates you most?

It’s gorgeous here. And there are certain perks that have made life so much better than the busy nights of my old life in Atlanta. So far, the spotty phone signal has been most frustrating. Oh, and the health condition of my new boss. That’s been unexpected, and I don’t know what will happen. Hopefully, she’ll be okay, but if not, this little spotlight on me might be pointless.

Where would you live if you could live anywhere in the world?

That’s hard to say. Before I came here, I’d considered all kinds of places. Anything far away from the small town I grew up in. But Havenwood Falls is already feeling like home, even though I’ve only been here two days.

Where’s your favorite place to hang out in Havenwood Falls and why?

I’ve been busy taking care of Madame Luiza, so I haven’t had time to explore the town. I think Whisper Falls Inn will be incredible, though, if we can fix it up. I hope that’s something she wants to do . . . You know, I still can’t stop thinking about those ski slopes. I think I’d really love it up there on the mountain.

What’s your favorite holiday/festival/special thing to do?

I’ve always loved Halloween. Dressing up and pretending to be someone—or something—else for a day. And it’s in the Fall, my favorite season. But I’ve been reading in the paper about upcoming events in town that could be fun. Some seem a little . . . weird . . . but I kind of like weird.

There is much more to Kaela Peters than even she knows. Read more about her in Forget You Not by Kristie Cook–although what’s fact and what’s fiction only she knows. Or does she?
